MBA I (24 hours)

MBA-II (21 hours)

After all MBA-I requirements are satisfied, students may enroll in the MBA-II core component courses listed below.

  • MBA 6621 Managerial Decision Making
  • MBA 6622 Finance in an Integrated Environment
  • MBA 6623 Marketing in an Integrated Environment
  • MBA 6624 Information Technology in Business
  • MBA 6625 Managerial Control Systems
  • MBA 6626 Business Policy/Strategy in a Global Environment
  • MBA 6628 Business Simulation and Application

Informatics Emphasis (12 hours)

The MBA with an Emphasis in Informatics is focused on providing managerial-level knowledge of information technology for MBA students. The INFO emphasis provides general business managers with a curriculum focused on building their knowledge of information systems and the opportunity to develop technical skills in this field.

Required courses for the Informatics emphasis:

MBA 6627 Planning for E-Commerce

Electives (9 credit hours).

The MBA with an Emphasis in Informatics requires 9 credit hours of 5000/6000-level elective course work in the field of Business Informatics. Courses at the 5000 level cannot be selected if a comparable undergraduate course has already been taken.

Certificate in Informatics

An Informatics Certificate is offered for those students who have a bachelor’s degree in a field other than Informatics and want to improve their knowledge of information systems. To earn a Certificate in Informatics, a student must complete 30 total credits from the following list. At least twelve of those credits must be taken after the student has completed a bachelor’s degree.

INFO 1182 Informatics and Programming II 3 cr
INFO 2285 Software and Systems Architecture 3 cr
INFO 3307 Systems Analysis and Design 3 cr
INFO 3380 Networking and Virtualization 3 cr
INFO 4407 Database Design and Implementation 3 cr
INFO 4482 Informatics Senior Project 3 cr
INFO 6630 Advanced Data Management 3 cr
Business Electives 6 cr

Students must take six hours of business courses in any of the following areas:

  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Management
  • Marketing

At least three credits of business elective courses must be taken as upper division coursework (3000 or 4000 level).

At least twelve credits of the above must be taken after the student completes a bachelor’s degree.

Students must receive a grade better than a C- in all coursework that applies to the Certificate in Informatics.

Students must meet with an advisor and complete a program of study prior to the second semester of coursework.
